====== The Shaman: ======
The Shaman, in his new integration, is a **"role "**. \\
This role is accessible to all players, heroes and inhabitants alike, banished or not.
Before the Shaman was a profession, and can still be played in certain event/private towns if the right setting is enabled.
===== Description: =====
The Shaman is said to be an overpowered voodoo sorcerer who takes advantage of the death of others to work his black magic. In reality, however, he's a citizen with a heightened sense of sensibility, who can also be very lucky! Although others will call him a charlatan that is simply a succesful con-man, to each their own!
[[http://www.hordes.fr/#help/chaman|Game help]]
The game's background portrays him as a probable Charlatan who possesses luck rather than being an actual sorcerer. \\
As a result, his entire gameplay revolves around uncertainty and doubt. However, it is of paramount importance.
===== Becoming a Shaman: =====
==== Election: ====
Each town can have only one Shaman at any one time. As of season 14, there is no longer a Shaman in the Non-Remote Region. \\ \\
Elected by the town's citizens. To vote, you have to be in town and go to the "polling station". \\
Heroes can vote from the Outworld (heroic actions -> "vote for the shaman"; this action does not give a "heroic action" picto and does not prevent you from doing another heroic action in the same day).
{{ :hordes:screens:vote-depuis-l-om.png?nolink |Vote depuis l'Outre-Monde}}\\
The votes of citizens who abstained are randomly distributed to each candidate who received at least one vote. This system introduces a degree of randomness into voting: a citizen who has received only one vote can be elected shaman if he receives many of these "random votes". \\ \\
==== Death of a shaman: ====
A first shaman is elected after the J1 attack. If he dies, a new election takes place after the attack following his death. If a shaman dies during the day, the new election takes place the day after his death.
===== Powers: =====
The Shaman possesses unique actions that are inaccessible to ordinary mortals. Most of these actions are linked to his Mystic Points (MP). Every day, the Shaman possesses 5 MP, and it seems impossible to regenerate them in any other way.

==== Purify a zone: ====
He can purify an area, at **a cost of 3 MP**, by making rain fall on it. This action has a 75% chance of success.
* At the city gates, rain brings 5 rations of water to the well.
* In the Other World, rain can kill between 3 and 6 zombies.

==== Curing: ====
He can also perform healings, for **a cost of 2 MP**, on citizens in town and thus remove states from them.
* States concerned: **Terror / Infection / Drug addict / Alcoholic**. Other states (wounds, addiction, hangover...) cannot be healed by the shaman.
* Healing has a chance of failure.
* The Shaman has a chance of recovering one of the states he heals.
* The Shaman cannot attempt to heal the same person twice in one day.
* If the target has several of these healable states, only one is healed at random.
* The Shaman cannot heal if he possesses the //state// **drugged** and/or **drunk** (whatever the treatment to be performed).
==== Brew a potion: ====
The Shaman can also create potions from a gourd of water for **a cost of 1 MP**. \\
These potions can be used to safely collect souls from outside the city, but run the risk of failing to provide the desired immunity. \\
{{ :hordes:screens:chaman_potionaction.png?nolink |}}
NB: the potion has exactly the same effects as a ration of water when ingested, plus a possible protection bonus. This protection (if effective) lasts for the entire town. \\
If you take a second potion, a message indicates whether or not you were already immune.

==== Carrying Souls: ====
The shaman is immune to tortured souls without having to take a shamanic potion. What's more, he can carry as many souls as he has slots in his bag, whatever their type.
==== Detecting Lost Souls: ====
On the mini-map (at the city gates, or in the World Beyond by displaying it via the //Map// button), the Shaman sees the souls move through 4 squares, with the soul location actually being always on the bottom-right square. \\
All souls are displayed in blue, even tortured souls: the Shaman can't tell the difference from a distance. \\
Souls can have harmful consequences for the town or the people who collect them. \\
Voir la page [[hordes:ames_perdues|“Les Âmes Perdues”]] pour plus de détails.
===== Shunning: =====
Being shunned doesn't mean you can't be a Shaman. \\
However, a shunned Shaman cannot perform cures, as the action is not available to them.
