Type of Town

Goal of the Game

The goal of the game is pretty simple : survive as long as possible against hordes of zombies.

With the help of your fellow-citizens, improve the defenses, vote for powerful (or useless) construction sites upgrades, explore the desert scavenging for useful materials and gear, rescue players at risk and debate on the forum.

Depending on your motivations, surviving can be the way to achieve other objectives like getting a high ranking on the leaderboard, obtaining honorific titles, or even perfecting your roleplay.

Jealousy, murders, betrayals, manipulations, and all kind of deceptions are common in this Post-Apocalyptic world. Watch your neighbors as much as the zombies that fill this decadent world. Be honest and fair, following the old ideals and values or be ruthless and cruel when faced with the other citizen's behaviors. Everything is possible, so be careful.

Soul Leaderboard

A game will always start with the player appearing in a town and will end at their death. When a game is over, the player will earn points depending on how many nights he survived. These soul points determine the player's placement in general and seasonal leaderboards.

These leaderboards based on your soul points are visible by clicking on “Your Soul” in the menu. Then go on “Season X”, where X is the number for the ongoing season, then click on the “Soul Points”. You'll then be able to see the general leaderboard, but also the seasonal leaderboards, season by season and check out which players earned the most soul points.

Titles

A player can have more personal objectives like obtaining honorific titles. These titles can be obtained by cumulating specific actions that grant “Distinctions”, more commonly called “Pictos” (for Pictograms). These titles are visible by everyone in the “Soul” page of the player et can give a rough idea of the player's playstyle. These titles are also shown below the username on the forums.

Exemple : With 50 pictos “Brave Camper”, you can earn the title “Dancing with the Zombies”.

Hordes : Les distinctions

Roleplay

Some players do not play for the leaderboard, nor for the titles. They are the roleplayers. They're avid players, but don't systematically play several games in a row. They talk with the other players and the characters they roleplay are often well developped. Often, these are colorful characters that suddenly come to life right before your eyes. They generally pick a role that they're attached to, ranging from the eternal white knight that would give his life for the community to the worse asshole capable of every low blow to stay alive, without forgetting the little girl lost in a merciless world.

What you need to keep in mind is that the player and their character are 2 totally distinct entities. As such, it's useless to denigrate a player based on their character's weird behavior. Whether you're into roleplaying or not, you cant attack the character, survivor and citizen of the MyHordes (die2nite) world !
